The Wanamaker Building Brand Refresh

January 17, 2019 at 11:06 am

The Wanamaker Building, a landmark destination here in Philadelphia, has historically been known as “the Macy’s building” due to its 100-year retail history. With upcoming office space available for lease, the building needed to reclaim its identity and change perceptions to retain existing tenants and attract prospective creative/tech firms.

To achieve this, we positioned the brand as a space that inspires across our print collateral and social media channels. In tandem with our rebranding efforts, the Wanamaker team added extensive upgrades and renovations to the lobby as well as other areas of the building to create a more modern, inviting and inspiring feel. In addition to traditional and digital marketing, the brand is at the heart of the physical building itself. Nowhere is this more evident than the brand new tenant lobby with the brand carved into marble and showcased on the impressive 350sf media wall, inspiring lighting design and sparkling twin escalators. This refreshed, contemporary aesthetic, combined with the breathtaking historic details and architecture create a space that tenants can walk into every day and feel inspired.

This rebrand conveys to the world that the new-and-improved Wanamaker Building is proud to embrace it’s past while inspiring future generations of innovators and creative thinkers.

Only 4 remaining! Hired by Scannapieco Development Corporation while the building was still under construction, we have been able to successfully reach our target audience to convey the unique offerings of the building. Our success can be seen through the countdown in our advertising from 31 full floor residences available when we started, down to 4. Designing everything from street signage and invitations, to print advertisements and direct mailers, Munroe was able to craft a campaign that effectively created a sense of exclusiveness and intrigue.

After working extensively with Radian for the past 4 years on various branding and marketing initiatives, we discovered that what really separated them from their competitors was the passion Radian’s employees demonstrated for making their clients successful. Through this notion, we created an extensive, vibrant campaign showing how each employee’s individual passion ultimately contributed to success. The project has been well received externally and met with an enormous amount of enthusiasm from employees in all departments of the company.

Two years ago, Munroe was tasked with creating a new brand and identity for Stoney River, a steakhouse chain based out of Nashville. After an initial discovery phase which included canvasing the competitive landscape, we rebranded Stoney River with custom wood-cut illustrations and an earth toned color palette, giving the brand the maturity, yet approachability it craved. From there we developed the tagline “Savor the Experience,” which has been the anchor to the overarching campaign ever since. This restaurant, consisting of 10 locations nationwide, is now able to stand in a category all on its own between its high-end and casual dining competitors, as the only chain creating a unique “casual elegance” dining experience.
